A few of the models have graduated Scuba training!

Over the past two weeks the models began filtering into Bigfoot. A few of the lovely ladies were given the opportunity to get certified for scuba diving at Scuba World here in Mactan. Although there was a slight delay in the beginning, and one model having to postpone her training for a shoot in Leyte, the rest of the girls set out to complete their certification. After four straight days of training consisting of skill completions, confined water dive sessions, quizzes, exams and finally four open water dives in the beautiful ocean, the ladies were exhausted but happy on graduation day. All were thankful to their two instructors and the professional staff of Scuba World that made their time enjoyable. With this skill under their belts, the underwater modeling shoots can commence!

Below are the models with the two instructors after just having completed their final dive for training.

LtoR:  Cassandra, Georgina, Insructors: Birnel & Natalya, Mariah, Mailyne & Freya

*Please remember that although this certification is for the purpose of pleasure and fun, the safety precautions of scuba diving must strongly be stressed.

A weekend with the interns at the Sinulog Festival

Over the past weekend a few of the interns were given the opportunity to experience one of the major festivals held in Cebu City; The Sinulog Festival.
One of the contingents in the parade:

Sinulog is a dance ritual held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño. The Santo Niño is the image of the baby Jesus that Magellan brought with him when he first arrived in Cebu in 1521. The dance moves to the sound of the drums and this resembles the current (sinulog) of what was then known as Cebu’s Pahina River. Thus, in Cebuano, they say it’s Sinulog. More than just the meaning of the word is the significance of the dance. Historians now say that Sinulog, which is of pagan origin, is the link between the country’s pagan past and its Christian present. What used to be a small dance for a few vendors and children has now turned into the largest celebration with bright, beautiful costumes, enormous hand-crafted floats, thousands of vendors and millions of people from all over the country.

The streets of Cebu city are filled:

On the day of the parade, a few teams of interns set out to capture the craziness of the festivities, while others got right into the mix with Bigfoot intern Mailyne, who was experiencing the Sinulog festival for the first time with her family. Although the weather hadn't looked promising, with torrential downpours in the forecast, the skies cleared up long enough for the interns to capture enough footage for you to get an idea of what exactly they became a part of. With the sun beating down, crowds of people swarming the streets and the threat of rain, the interns filmed and photographed amidst the excitement with their behind-the-scenes cameras to capture the wonderful experience of the Sinulog Festival in Cebu City.

24 Hour Intern Video Competition

On January 13, 2010 the interns at Bigfoot studio were given an assignment: which team of interns could create a video within 24 hours that would get the most hits on YouTube? The video that has the most hits after one week, that team would receive a brand new video camera.

There were 4 teams and each team had to create both a 3-5 minute video and a 45 second video.

After a few days of hard work, the interns have finished creating their videos and all the results have been uploaded to YouTube. Here are their finished products:
